Please visit http://botanyboy.org/ On a fine mid September day I got the urge to go see the most impressive old growth hardwood forest in my area. This forest is found on the northeast flank of a mountain on the very edge of Fukuoka City, Kyushu, Japan. The mountain, called Tachibanayama, is home to true titans of the hardwood tree world. Massive camphor trees dominate, but numerous others reach great heights - laurels, bays, and a host of rarely heard about trees in the western world. Come along and see what I find.
